Women are underrepresented in natural scientific, especially engineering, professions and career opportunities are particularly unequally distributed in these fields. For this reason, the German Research Foundation demands the active implementation of measures for fostering women in science: Only when the whole potential of a society is realised, excellence in research can be sustainably preserved. The Collaborative Research Center 1026 „Sustainable Manufacturing – Shaping Global Value Creation“ has set itself the target of realising these potentials. Therefore, various measures for fostering women in their childhood, during their studies and in their daily professional life have been implemented. Girls shall be inspired for topics of engineering and production. Students shall treat sustainable manufacturing in their final theses and learn about research perspectives for their academic career. In the working environment of the CRC, the reconciliation of family and working life shall be guaranteed.
