German-Palestinian Cooperation for Sustainable Development

The Institut für Werkzeugmaschinen und Fabrikbetrieb (IWF) at Technische Universität-Berlin organized a workshop titled “German-Palestinian Cooperation for Sustainable Development” from 4th to 6th of July 2012. The workshop has started with the participation of Prof. Afif Akel and Dr. Ahmed Abu Hanieh from Birzeit University; Prof. Shafik Jendia, Dr. Anwar Abu-Zarifa, and Dr. Abed Aschokry from Islamic University of Gaza; and Dr. Ahmad Ramahi, and Dr. Husam Arman from AnNajah National University in addition to several researchers from IWF. Prof. Dr.-Ing. Günther Seliger opened the workshop by welcoming the participants and giving a presentation; he introduced the role of IWF in supporting a sustainable development and many other research areas. He also provided many examples of mutual cooperative projects with partners from all over the world. After that the other participants gave an introduction about their universities and presented their ideas about possible ways of cooperation. Dr. Peter Krajnik from University of Ljubljana, Slovenia participated in the workshop and proposed ideas for mutual cooperation with the support of European commission. At the end of the workshop participants have been divided into three working groups to discuss the ideas of mutual collaboration between German and Palestinian Universities in the field of sustainability development.
