2nd International Symposium ZEBISTIS – Zero Emission Buildings Integrating Sustainable Technologies and Infrastructure Systems
Comprehensive Approach for Sustainable Building “Zero-Emission” buildings can produce energy, water and resources and do not produce harmful emissions. Decentralized innovative technologies and systems for the realization of zero emission buildings were developed and successfully applied especially in Europe. However, due to the very limited number of case studies, there is still immense demand for applied research regarding the development, optimization and marketing of concepts, systems and technologies for zero emission buildings. Furthermore the international transferability of concepts, systems and technologies has to be investigated regarding sustainability criteria. The aim of this interdisciplinary research project with international partners and young scientists is to fill this gap by compiling the best practices from participating countries and the specific networks of participants. Furthermore a general framework for zero emission buildings will be formulated, which will integrate a plethora of aspects, and will be adaptable to different climatic and cultural environments. The ZEBISTIS project will also analyse the transferability of the research findings and of best practice examples to different building types (e.g. housing & commercial) and different urban settings in participating KORANET partners countries. It is expected that the results offer an immense potential for multiplication and to foster sustainable (re-)development in rural and urban areas.
